The pedagogy at MITID emerges from the institute's philosophy and is based on the premise of learning by doing. The pedagogy emphasizes on building a strong fundamental understanding of Design as problem solving process. Through courses that develop conceptual thinking and hand skills the learners are encouraged to observe and empathize with the immediate environment, identify the needs and develop relevant Design solutions.

The pedagogy includes classroom interactions and discussions among the faculty and learners, assignments and projects. Apart from this many inputs are given through industrial visits, case study discussions, live projects and guest lectures by industry professionals. The pedagogy is innovative, experiential and creates an engaging learning environment. The faculty mentors each student personally and apart from the academic inputs also develops necessary life skills so that the learner is sensitive to sociocultural needs and responsive to human values.
