Process for B.Des / B.DES FASHION
PHASE 1: MITID DAT (Design Aptitude Test)
MITID DAT is a design entrance test for admissions in Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Design (B.Des Fashion Design) programmes at MIT Institute of Design Pune It is conducted at various centres across the country. View List of Test Cetres. MITID reserves its right to change or cancel any of these centres. Based on scores obtained from MITID DAT, shortlisted candidates will be called for second phase.
PHASE 2: Studio Test and Personal Interview
Studio Test and Personal Interview is conducted at MITID campus in Pune. The second phase of the admission procedure will consist of studio tests followed by personal interviews at Institute in Pune.
The result of shortlisted candidates for the Second Phase will be announced on MITID website.
No separate call letters will be sent to the shortlisted candidates. All those candidates called for the second phase are required to attend the studio tests and interview, which completes the process of selection.
The Admission Committee decides the procedures, grades and weightage every year.
The norms for the selection are the sole prerogative of the Admission Committee and the decision of the Admission Committee and the Management in any of the matters concerning the admission process and selection will be final. Any direct or indirect attempt to influence the admission committee or its members, academic office bearers or management will lead to the automatic disqualification of the candidate(s).

Last date for submission of application form is 28th February 2026.

Note: The candidates applying under reserved category have to upload applicable documents for consideration of their candidature under the reserved category. If the candidate fails to upload the applicable documents before the last date of application his / her candidature will be considered under General Open Category.
Social and Vertical Reservation:
- 1. Rules of reservations apply as per the prevalent Government of Maharashtra directives. Maximum Social or vertical reservation will be up to 50% only and additional 10% for EWS. Category wise reservations is applicable for Maharashtra state candidates only. EWS reservation is applicable to all.
- 2. All Other than Maharashtra candidates will be considered under OMS General Open category.

3. Apart from the above reservations, there will be parallel reservations for Son/Daughter of Defence Service Personnel.
Five percent seats of the total sanctioned intake of the institute shall be reserved for children of ex-service personnel and active service personnel who are domiciled in Maharashtra and of active service personnel, who are not domiciled in Maharashtra but are transferred to Maharashtra.
Provided that such candidate should have appeared and passed the HSC examination from the school situated in Maharashtra. For claiming the reservation for Defence quota candidate has to submit certificate issued by concerned authority before the deadline. - 4. The Candidates appearing for the 12th Std or equivalent examination are not required to submit 12th Mark sheet, however the admission will be confirmed to selected candidates only on clearing the 12th Std.
- Minimum Marks required for B.Des : 10+2 from any stream and any recognized board passed with 45% marks for general/open category candidates and 5% relaxation in case of backward class categories and a person with a disability belonging to Maharashtra state candidates only.
- 5. Application form fees is non-refundable in any case.
- 6. The incomplete application forms / not satisfying eligibility criteria will be rejected. The MITID DAT (Design Aptitude Test) fees for such rejected applications will not be refunded.
- 7. No official communication will be made regarding rejected application forms.
- 8. Admission is on the basis of MITID method of selection, which extends beyond the students previous academic qualifications. The MITID Admission Committee systematically seeks evidence of the perception, attitude, aptitude, achievement and motivation essential for a challenging and satisfying design career. The objective of the tests and the interviews is to ascertain the above qualities.

In case there are any vacant seats in a particular discipline it will be transferred to other disciplines where there are more candidates in waiting list.
