Dr. Neelarnab Dutta is an accomplished Industrial Designer with over 15 years of experience leading product design and innovation projects at companies such as ETRI, South Korea, Tata Elxsi Bangalore, and Inochi Care, New Delhi. In 2016, he was awarded the Biodesign Fellowship (previously Stanford Biodesign Fellowship) from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India (GOI). He also held the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) from 2020-23 for his doctoral research.
Dr. Dutta obtained his PhD in Design from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati(IITG). He holds an M.Des in Product Design and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore), an M.Tech in Data Science and Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (BITS Pilani), and a B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from NERIST, India.
He co-founded two medical device startups in India: Inochi Care and Abhedya Innovations. Dr. Neelarnab holds seven granted national and international patents in the medical device and product design space. One of his notable inventions is a ‘multitherapeutic wound healing device’ that has successfully undergone clinical trials at AIIMS New Delhi and reached commercialization.
His design practice and research interests encompass Product Design, Medical Device Design, Interaction Design, and the Design of Assistive Technologies. Dr. Neelarnab has received several national and international awards, including the Pfizer Entrepreneurial Award and the International Design Award (IDA). Currently he teaches Bachelors and Masters level courses in Product Design Department of MIT ID, MIT ADT University.
