The Interior Space and Furniture Design discipline focuses on designing and planning interior spaces to meet all human needs. Learners concentrate on designing both interior and exterior spaces according to their functional hierarchies and interrelationships. More functional and aesthetic spaces require components such as furniture, seating, storage, lighting, etc., so interior design alone is not sufficient. Interior space design should be integrated with furniture and accessories, with both interacting harmoniously. This integration ensures that the built space functions as an efficient and well-designed system.

This approach gives learners a unique edge over those focused merely on “interior decoration.” Of the many Interior Space and Furniture Design courses available, the one at MIT ID emphasises holistic learning. Graduates from this institute have the option to specialise in Furniture, Craft, Lighting, or Interior Design for their careers in the industry. The option of choosing various electives and minors gives interior design students an advantage due to their multidisciplinary focus. They are skilled and well-equipped to establish their own studio within 2-3 years.
