‘AAI aka a Mother’, a black and white traditional short animation film, shot in a single and unedited take, has been honoured with National Record (Limca Book of Records). Unlike other animated film, which uses special effects and camera tricks to create the appearance of a single-take, AAI is a real deal. The entire take is 10 minutes long without any hidden cuts.
AAI aka a Mother, a film by the Assistant Professor Aroop Dwivedi from the Animation Design Department, is a story of a Mother bringing up her son against the lower middle class back drop of Indian milieu. This social awakening film was premiered at Bangalore Film Festival on 21st July 2014 and was screened in the opening night at Pennsylvania State University, Golden Orchid Film festival; VAFI, Children film festival of Croatia; Sahar Film festival, Manchester; I will tell- London and MIFF.
The hard work of Prof. Aroop is widely considered as a major source of inspiration to aspiring filmmakers, students and youth at large. His achievement makes MIT Institute of Design proud and adds one more feature to its cap.
